What I got: Cheese nachos - Very good and very much so authentic Mexican! Dessert: Fried ice cream. It's not the traditional "fried ice cream" that I knew of, anyway. It is not ice cream quickly battered in bread crumbs or cornflakes and then quickly fried. It was more of something like a hardened tortilla shaped into a bowl. Then ice cream was placed in it. On top of the ice cream there was a chocolate and cinnamon glaze and on top of that on the ice cream there was whipped cream and then on the very top a cherry. I also had a sopapilla. This was very good as well, though different from what I originally knew, too. It was fried crisp, and not a pocket, but flat like a tortilla (the bowl for the ice cream was quite like the sopapilla shaped into a bowl). On it, there was honey and cinnamon.

Price paid: For these things, two orders and two drinks, it was a little over $20.

Hours of Operation:
Monday-Friday 10:30am-6:30pm
Saturday 10:30am-3:00pm
Closed Sundays

Date visited: Several times in the past few months

Type of eatery: Home cooked American/southern food

Dish I ordered: Bacon Cheeseburger meal (choice of onion rings or fries and a medium drink)

What I got: Cotten's burgers are cooked fresh when ordered. I always eat my burgers plain and these are great. The burgers are good and the bacon is “real” bacon. It is piled across the whole burger rather than bacon crumbles or two to three little pieces of bacon across the burger. I always order the onion rings which are usually more like “onion shreds.” They are a bit greasy, but they are delicious. I don't like onions and I eat these onion rings. Of course, I got a soft drink as well.

Price paid: $3.29 plus tax for one meal.

The BEST burgers you can find in the Lake Charles area. They've even been voted by Lake Charles residents as having the best burger in the Lagniappe's (a local publication) “the best” contest, which is held yearly. If you ever find yourself in or passing through Lake Charles, LA, do yourself a favor and make at least one stop for a hamburger and onion rings at Cotten's. (There are plenty of other great southern and great cajun restaurants around if you're going to be around for awhile.)

Would I eat there again: I WILL eat there again. It's my favorite burger place, ever. If I have a choice and time for a burger, I'm going to Cotten's.

Type of eatery: Chinese Eatery

Dish I ordered: Sweet Heart Buns and Crystal Dumplings (both considered appetizers)

What I got: The sweet heart bun is a delicious chinese style lightly sweetened steamed bread bun with a sweet filling. The crystal dumpling is a buckwheat based dough, very thin, steamed and shaped like a crescent and contains pork and shrimp filling.

Price paid: $2.25 for 3, for both orders. I ordered multiple sets.

The best chinese take-out restaurant I've ever been to. Their only problem is there is only one of them! They aren't a chain, so if you want their cooking, you have to go to Columbus.

Would I eat there again: I WILL eat there again. Whenever I visit Columbus Ohio, I visit this restaurant.

What I usually order:
APPETIZER: Tomato and Gorgonzola Bruschetta, $6.95
SALAD: House salad with gorgonzola dressing (comes with entree)
ENTREE: All of their entrees are fantastic, but a personal favorite is their Vegetable Lasagna ($13.95) with Fra Diavolo sauce.
I also recommend the Verdura and Ya Mamma's style dishes, the Tortellini di Roma, the Fettucini Alfredo, and the Calamari Fra Diavolo. And really, pretty much everything else. Prices can be found on the web site.
DESSERT: Tiramisu Roll (price unlisted on web site) or Cannolis with Oreo Filling (price unlisted)
